HAMSTEAD HALL NEIGHBOURHOOD FORUM

      Chairman' Report

Dear All,

I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and efforts made during last couple of months, particularly at the Ward Committee on 21st of July. I must reiterate the need to keep up the pressure and increase the attendance of these meetings. I am sure if we continue our campaign with present momentum we will succeed to stop this unjustified closure of Hawthorn House. I am slightly pleased to inform you that our protest is making some improvements and there is a great opportunity for all our Ward Councillors and Chairman of Constituency as well as Member of Parliament to play a very crucial role to stop this closure and keep the Hawthorn House open as desired by all residents across the area.

This has been confirm via an email from Corporate Landlord Office that decision about closing Hawthorn House will be delayed and taken back to full council meeting in September for discussion. This gives us time to arrange funding through our Community Chest and Constituency Fund. This is now a public knowledge that we still have £ 75,000.00 (GBP Seventy Five Thousand) available from Community Chest funding so far there are no projects or application received by Ward Committee to spend this, therefore it is now  requested to our Ward Councillors to approve the application submitted  by Hamstead Hall Neighbourhood Forum to fund the amount require to save the Hawthorn House for ONE YEAR, this will give us enough time to negotiate with possible permanent tenants to move in on long term bases.

I am obliged to inform you that we are looking various possible ways of using Hawthorn House in futures. I am very confident after securing the use of the facilities we will be able to discuss and bring anchor tenants and sustain this facility on long term bases.

I must admit it was not a very satisfactory attendance for our Walk. You are now requested to attend the protest meeting on Saturday 31st July at 02.00pm at Hawthorn House. I realise most of residents are going away during summer holidays, but have to set this meeting as a priority because there will be some very important decision made during this. I have requested all our Ward Councillors to attend as well as Chairman of Perry Barr Constituency will be present as well.

We are simply requesting our Ward Councillors to support the application for funding the Hawthorn House along with partly funded by Constituency. This is reachable solution to keep the Hawthorn House open and we are all working together to sustain this facilities as it is. I hope this explains the whole issue around our protest, please come and support yourselves to SAVE HAWTHORN HOUSE

Thank you for your cooperation and God bless you all

Ghazan Awan

Chairman
